Pakistan have defeated South Africa by three wickets in the first One-Day International of a three-match series at Boland Park in Paarl on Tuesday. (Match Blog| Cricket News)

Salman Ali Agha starred with the bat to remain unbeaten on 82 to take the Men In Green over the line in a tense 240-run chase. Agha also shone with the ball, picking four wickets with his off-spin.

Agha's partnership with the centurion Saim Ayub (109) was key to Pakistan's revival after they had found themselves loitering at 88/4.

Earlier, South Africa skipper Aiden Markram had won the toss and elected to bat first against Pakistan in the 1st ODI of three-match series at the Boland Park, Paarl on Tuesday, December 17.

Heinrich Klaasen's vigilant 86 helped them reach 239/9 in 50 overs, with Agha taking 4/32 in his 8 overs.

Speaking at the toss, Markram said, "We are going to bat first. Looks a pretty good wicket and a typical Paarl wicket. Most of the game will be played under lights and the ball will come on nicely. We have to keep adapting as batters. We don't have too many ODIs before the Champions Trophy, it is nice to build up and show in this series. We have two spinners - Keshav and Shamsi, three seamers."

India then beat Korea 3-1 before eking out a narrow 2-1 win over arch-rivals Pakistan.

Mohammad Rizwan saidmillionairesslot, "We wanted to bat first as well. Yes we are hosting the Champions Trophy but the conditions will be different but the squad will remain 70% the same. The guys are looking forward to the series. We have three seamers and one spinner."
